1. Getting Started

Guardian Angel connects two people: a caregiver (you) and a care recipient (the person you're looking out for — a parent, grandparent, or anyone living alone). Both need the app installed, but they use it very differently.

Tip: Install the app on your own phone first and create your caregiver account, then set up your loved one's device — the app will walk you through generating their login during that step.

2. Setting Up as a Caregiver

  1. Download Guardian Angel from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the app, choose Caregiver, and tap Create Account.
  3. Enter your email (twice, to confirm), your name, and a password.
  4. Check your email and confirm your account, then sign back in.
  5. You'll land on your dashboard with a 14-day free trial already active — no payment required to start.

From here, add your first care recipient from Settings → Add Recipient.

3. Setting Up Your Loved One's Phone

There are two ways to get your loved one logged in:

Option A — In person (easiest)

  1. Install Guardian Angel on their phone from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. In your own caregiver Settings, tap the recipient's name, then Send Setup Link — this generates a QR code.
  3. On their phone, open the app and scan the QR code (or tap the link if you texted it to them) — it signs them in automatically, no typing required.

Option B — Remotely, over the phone

Talk them through installing the app, then give them the username and 4-digit PIN you set for them in Settings — they'll enter both on the sign-in screen.

Important: Grant Location and Motion & Fitness permissions when the app asks — these power SOS location sharing and automatic fall detection. Also allow notifications so check-in reminders can appear.

4. Daily Use

For your loved one

For you, the caregiver

Open the app any time to see their live status: last check-in, battery level, and any active alerts — right from your Dashboard tab.

5. Alerts & Notifications

Alert typeWhat triggers itHow you're notified
SOSRecipient holds the SOS buttonPush notification + phone call
Fall detectedSudden impact followed by stillnessPush notification (call optional, based on your settings)
No check-inNo activity within your configured windowPush notification
Low batteryRecipient's phone battery drops below 20%Push notification

You control how you're notified — push only, call only, or both — under Settings → Notification Preferences. You can also set active hours for inactivity alerts, so a normal night's sleep never triggers a false alarm.

6. The Caregiver Dashboard

A matching dashboard is also available on the web at app.guardianangelcare.app if you'd rather check in from a computer.

7. Adding Family Members

You can invite up to 3 secondary caregivers (like siblings) to get read-only access to the same dashboard and alerts — so everyone stays informed without everyone needing to manage settings.

  1. Go to Account → Secondary Caregivers → + Add.
  2. Enter their email — they'll get an invite to create their own login.
  3. Choose whether they're notified by push, call, or both.

8. Subscription & Billing

Every account starts with a 14-day free trial. After that, choose a plan:

PlanCoversPricing
Individual1 care recipient$4.99/week · $9.99/month · $99.99/year
FamilyUp to 4 care recipients$9.99/week · $19.99/month · $199.99/year

Manage or cancel your subscription any time from Account → Subscription in the app, or directly through the App Store / Google Play. You can switch between Individual and Family right from that same screen — the store handles proration automatically.

9. Privacy & Safety

Location is only ever captured for safety alerts and last-known-location — never for tracking, marketing, or advertising. We never sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

10. Troubleshooting

My loved one isn't showing as connected

Make sure the app isn't force-closed on their phone, and that they have an internet or cellular connection. Ask them to open the app once — that alone re-establishes the connection.

I'm not getting alerts

Check that notifications are enabled for Guardian Angel in your phone's system settings, and that your Notification Preferences in the app aren't set to a channel you're not checking.

Fall detection seems too sensitive / not sensitive enough

Fall detection can be turned off per recipient in Settings if it's not a good fit for their activity level.
