Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Guardian Angel ("we," "us," "our") provides a safety and check-in app that helps caregivers stay aware of the wellbeing of a family member or care recipient who lives alone. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and how it's protected.
Who this applies to
Guardian Angel has two types of users: caregivers, who create an account, and care recipients, whose account is set up by their caregiver using a username and PIN (no email required for the recipient).
Information we collect
- Account information: the caregiver's name and email address.
- Care recipient information: name, relationship, date of birth (optional), and a username/PIN set by the caregiver.
- Check-in activity: timestamps of check-ins, or the absence of a check-in, used solely to detect inactivity and alert the caregiver.
- Location: captured only when an alert is triggered (SOS, fall, inactivity, or a missed check-in), or periodically stored as a "last known location" while the app is active, so the caregiver can locate the recipient during an emergency. Location is never used for tracking, marketing, or shared with third parties for advertising.
- Battery level: reported so the caregiver knows if the recipient's phone is about to die.
- Medication reminder data: medication names, scheduled times, and whether a reminder was acknowledged — entered by the caregiver and confirmed by the recipient. This is a reminder tool, not a medical record.
- Emergency contacts: names and phone numbers the caregiver adds for the recipient, used only to notify them during an SOS or emergency.
- Push notification tokens: a device identifier used to deliver alerts to the caregiver's phone.
- Subscription status: whether an account is on a trial or paid plan. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google — we never see or store your card details.
How we use this information
Solely to operate the safety features you enable: detecting inactivity, delivering SOS and fall alerts, sending medication reminders, and showing the caregiver a live status dashboard. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers to run the app, each bound to only process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — our database and backend infrastructure
- Apple (APNs) and Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — deliver push notifications to the correct device
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status; payment itself is processed by Apple or Google
- Vercel — hosts this website and the web dashboard
We do not share data with data brokers or advertisers.
Data retention & deletion
We retain account and alert data for as long as the account is active. Caregivers may request deletion of their account and all associated recipient data at any time by contacting support@guardianangelcare.app.
Children's privacy
Guardian Angel is intended for use by adult caregivers to monitor adult family members. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Your choices
- Location sharing, fall detection, and inactivity monitoring can each be turned on or off by the caregiver in Settings.
- Caregivers can remove a care recipient, delete medications or emergency contacts, or delete the account entirely at any time.
- Push notification permissions can be managed in your device's system settings.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and access to it is restricted using row-level security so that a caregiver can only see their own recipients' data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify caregivers in the app.
